Research on William Hackley Allred, born 14 Apr 1804, Franklin
County, Georgia, son of James and Elizabeth (Warren) Allred by

Allred- at Spring City, Sanpete County, Aug 1, 1890 Patriarch
William Hackley Allred. He was born Apr 14, 1804 in Franklin
County, Georgia and was the son of James and Elizabeth Allred.
He embraced the Gospel in 1832, in Monroe County Missouri, on
Salt River. He lived and died a fathful Latter-day Saint.
William was living in Adair Co., Mo., 1850. William H. Allred
age 46 b. Ga, Elizabeth age 44 b Tenn, Lewis P. age 19, b Mo,
Paulina age 17, b. Mo, Enoch age 15, b. Mo, Joseph R. age 11, b.
Mo., Amassy L. age 7, b. Mo., Sarah E. age 4, b. Mo., Willis W.
age 3, B. Mo, jCeleste age 8 months b. Mo. (1850 Census Adair
Co., Mo. P. 17, D 230 F 229 FHL 014, 871)
It has been told that William went to Texas when the rest of the
Allred’s came to Utah. He later went to Spring City and his wife
got dissatisfied, so he took her back to Texas. They stayed
there until she died. (I have not been able to verify this
story, William H. has not been located in the 1860 or 1870
census. There is a William Allred living in Grayson County,
Texas during those years, but he is a different man.)
William H. Allred was located in the 1880 census in Piute
County, Utah with his wife Martha (Coles) Allred and her 2 sons
by a previous marriage. 1880 census William Allred age 76,
Martha age 54, Charles J. age 11 [step-son], Stillman age 8
[step-son]. (1880 census Piute County, Utah p. 583, ED 37, D 37,
F 37 FHL 1,255,336)
William Hackley Allred married (1) 28 1824, Bedford County,
Tennessee to Elizabeth Ivie, (2) Martha Coles, (3) Eliza Elvira
Allred daughter of his brother Martin Carrell. Children by first
wife:
1. Matilda Katharine Allred b. 19 Feb 1825, Bedford Co., Tenn,
md. Joseph England d. 7 Oct 1855. She and Joseph were not found
in the 1850 census of Missouri, where others of the family were
living.
2. Delila Mildred Allred b. 2 Nov 1826, Bedford Co., Tenn. D. 20
Nov 1913, Fayetteville, Ark, bur Mt Comfort Cemetery,
Fayetteville. M. 4 July 1843 or 1846 Charles Lewis Van Cover
Payton. (Searched both Monroe and Adair Counties, Missouri and
did not find this marriage.
She and Van Payton were living in Adair Co., Mo in the 1850
census. Van Payton age 27 b. Ky, Delila age 25, b. Tenn, Edney
F. age 6, b. Mo, Margaret J. age 3, b. Mo, Martha E. age 2, b.
