William Alexander Derwood Allred Contact: Sherrill Schmidt-Carey I am researching my wife's Allred family. Her grandfather was Bonnie Carl Allred, born July 1905 and died July 1985. Bonnie's parents were William Alexander Derwood Allred, born August 4, 1864 in Clarke County, Mississippi., and Mary Duke, born 1864 in Alabama. William sometimes went by William, sometimes by Alexander Derwood. Sometimes he spelled his last name Alred, sometimes he spelled it Alread. Per the 1880 Census for Clarke County, MS, William's parents
were William (born 1832 in Kentucky) and Malinda Gant Allred. The four
children listed with them were: I have also identified another child, John, born 1856. He was probably grown and living away from home when the 1880 census was taken. The closest match I found was in the 1850 census for Fentress
County, TN; there was a William Alred who was 17. Per the 1850 census for
