EDWARD ELLIS ALLRED (2-2) 1892-1951
(Son of Edward Warren Allred and Rebecca Alvrean Lemmon Allred)

Edward Ellis Allred was born December 15, 1892 in Hatch, Garfield County, Utah, the second child of Edward Warren and Rebecca Alvrean Lemmon Allred. When he was nine years old his family moved from southern Utah to Lovell, Wyoming, traveling by team and covered wagon. He spent his boyhood and early manhood in Lovell and was part of many of the sports and pranks that go with frontier life.

Ellis had a keen sense of humor and contributed much to the enjoyment of family gatherings. He was kind and sympathetic to all, be it friend or stranger. Many sought him for advice and solace and all received the same kind of courtesy. To know him was to love him. Ellis left Salt Lake City January 13, 1913 to serve a mission in the Northern States. He was set apart for his mission by Apostle Frances M. Lyman.

On March 11, 1916, he married Lilas Marshals in Lovell, Wyoming. Their first child, Hilton, was born December 12, 1916 in Lovell. Hilton married Margerite Stanley August 7, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. Hilton died September 9,1948, Ellis's second child, Zelda, was born January 21, 1918 in Hines, Wyoming and died March 27,1918. Ilene was born October 24, 1922 in Lovell and was buried the same day. Marjorie Lee was born September 23,1926 in Tensleep. She married Kenneth Robert Wakefield on December 31,1947. All of the deceased children were sealed to their parents on July 27,1953.

Ellis and Lilas first lived in Lovell where he worked as a mechanic for Great Western Sugar Company. They later moved to a ranch near Tensleep, Wyoming, where they farmed from 1922 to 1939. During that time he also worked for the Bureau of Entomology. He went from Tensleep to Worland, Wyoming, where he worked for Holly Sugar Company for a short time, then went into the plumbing business with a cousin untit1942 when he sold out and moved to Los Angeles, California to work in the war industry where he was a pattern maker for aircraft.

He had the love and respect of all his co-workers, young and old, who visited him by telephone or made personal visits just to enjoy the warm friendship he gave to all. His love of everyone, his kindness, and charity never allowed him to turn anyone away who came to him for help and advice.

Ellis was the first of his parents' nine children to depart this life. He and Lilas had purchased a home in Norwalk, California, where they planned to grow old together. One evening Ellis was sitting in his easy chair watching TV while Lilas fixed him something to eat. When she went to him to give him the food she found him dead in his chair. The date was November 18, 1951. - written by Veda Lemmon, his sister.
