State of North Carolina, Randolph County I, James Elliott a Justice of said county this day proceeded to take the examination of Lucinda Swift: Whereupon she disclosed on oath that she is with child, which child, when born will be a bastard and liable to become chargeable to the county. She further disclosed on oath that Lowa Allred is the father of her said child. Lucinda (her mark) Swift Taken before me and subscribed the 27th day of Dec 1853 J. Elliott JP (seal)
State of North Carolina, Randolph County To any lawful officer: Whereas upon the examination of Lucindy Swift this day taken on oath before me it appears that she is now with child, which child, when born will be a bastard, and may become chargable to the said county and the said Lucindy Swift hath confessed that Lowa Allred of the County aforesaid did beget the said child and hath changed him with the same. These are therefore to command you to apprehend the said Lowa Allred and bring him before some Justice of the Peace for said county to answer said charge.
