RMA meeting
Held at the home of Larry Allred.
In attendance were Larry Allred, Linda Bronson, Sandy Allred, Dusty Smith, and
two visitors with Linda.
Minutes of last meeting of January 31st were read and approved.
Discussion was held concerning the printers, which would be needed for the
reunion. Dusty said she would bring two, and Larry would bring two. One
of Larry's will print the long sheets for Genealogy. Question was
raised, 'Would there be enough electricity for the computers'? Dusty
will check out Murray Park area and where the best place is for the computers
and electricity.
Sandy reported on the trip that she and Dean Allred had made to Allred Point.
She was very impressed. Pictures were taken of roads and directions to
the Allred Point Park, some of the park area, monument and plaque, and the
grave sight on the hill above the park. These pictures will be put on CD
and will be sent to Alice Pottmyer for review and then to the appropriate
people. A book was purchased by Dean of the history of Wayne County.
It speaks of Allred Point and Andrew Jackson Allred as well as other Allreds.
Discussion was made on the defaced monument and if we could restore it.
Dean Allred will again visit the Allred point and speak to appropriate people
in regards to restoration. Dean also wishes to locate the Mill and
other places and people there.
Larry read an e-mail concerning the Allred Crest flags, from Alice Pottmyer.
Linda said the printing was being done now.
There were some who stayed overnight during reunions held in Spring City. Just
3 miles up the canyon in Spring City is, "The Garden Bed and
Breakfast". They asked if we would advertise the rooms on our
website. Linda Cooper arranged a union of websites.
The stained glass overlay of the Allred Crest has been completed. It is
now advertised in the Newsletter and on the website. It will be
auctioned. Bids will be accepted on the website, and at the reunion.
Final bids must be received before the actual Auction held at the Reunion in
Murray Park. The highest bidder will be announced at the reunion.
All the proceeds of the sale are to go to the RMA. Many thanks to
Jonathan Goodrich!
We are excited about the coloring books which Lonnie and Sheryl suggested.
We need to know how that idea has progressed.
We discussed the printing of calendars for the Allreds. Suggestions of
Pictures were made. Dusty stated that she made calendars for her family
reunions each year at a cost of about $20 each. This appears to be too
steep for most of us; we liked the idea, and will check into other options and
costs.
A suggestion was made on keeping an update on the Allreds who presently attend
the reunions. This would include new births, marriages, deaths, and
important dates. All were in favor, however again we need a historian.
Also, a person to report the information to. One in each family. Adam
Smith said he would be willing to receive the information and record it for
the Owen Allred family.
Linda stated that she would have food available at the food booth all day.
There would not be a meal served, nor a specific time set for lunch.
Linda will finance the food purchase, and be reimbursed after the reunion.
Larry has been in touch with Asa and Terri. They were given the photo
archives to put on a CD, plus money with which to do it. We are waiting
for the report from Asa and Terry as to their intentions. Larry will
begin to cut and print CDs of the Histories for the reunion. They
will be all ready printed and available to sell.
We would like some old clothing from the 1840s to use for the skit at the
Reunion. If you have any, please notify Linda Bronson or Larry Allred.
Next RMA meeting will be held on April 24, 2004, at the home of Larry
Allred, 447 North 200 East, Farmington, Utah, 84025, 801-451-2742. Any
one who would like to help is invited to attend and participate in the
preparation of this years reunion at the Murray park.
Linda
Bronson made a motion to adjourn our meeting, Dusty Smith seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned till April 24th 2004.
