ECAFA Meeting Minutes
February 4, 2006

The East Coast Allred Family Association met Saturday, February 4, 2006, at 12 o’clock at Best Foods Cafeteria in Siler City.

Linda opened the meeting by discussing the New Research Report complied by Mike Marshall in the upcoming issue of the Spring Newsletter.

ECAFA Trip Plans For The Upcoming Year 2006:

MARCH 18, 2006 – Trip to Guilford Battleground for viewing the re-enactment of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. The en-enactment takes place at the Tannenbaum Park. We will also visit the Greensboro Historical Museum, if time permits. (Details later).

  Linda discussed a research trip to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Frederick and  Annapolis, Maryland during the month of March 2006. If interested, contact Linda.  The Research Trip to England has been postponed until 2007.

A tentative trip was discussed to the triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown (three days) in the near future.  Several members stated they were interested.   No definite date was scheduled at this time.

The Utah Reunion will be Saturday, June 24^th in Spring City.  Linda is planning to attend.  The plans at present are to fly from Raleigh/Durham Airport, Thursday, the 22^nd and return Sunday, the 25^th.  Linda will be checking air fares and accommodations.  Anyone interested in accompanying Linda to this reunion, please contact her.

East Coast Allred Reunion:  September 7^th, 8^th and 9^th.   Thursday 7^th – Trip to Cowpens, Cheney, South Carolina for a tour of the battleground.  This battle was a turning point in the Revolutionary War.   Friday 8^th – Trip to Guilford Battleground and the Guilford Courthouse Museum.   Members were urged to watch or re-watch the movie “Patriot” to gain an insight into The Revolutionary War and events that took place in the south.   Saturday 9^th – Allred Reunion at Grays Chapel School.

Mike Marshall stated a movie entitled “A New World” will be coming to the theaters in the near future.  Pocahontas is featured in this movie  and it also relates to early life in the Colonies.

Harlan Sexton, ECAFA Treasurer reports at the present there is $801.92 in the ECAFA Bank Account.

ECAFA Membership Dues for 2006 are due.

Next ECAFA Meeting is Saturday, March 18^th, 2006, when we travel to Guilford Battleground.  Linda will work out details for this event.
